International beauty superstar Judy Travis of It’sJudyTime made her debut appearance in Vancouver this weekend, filling CurliQue Beauty and Blanche Macdonald’s Atelier Campus with around 500 fans for an unforgettable meet and greet and Q&A session.
The fans’ enthusiasm was understandable. Judy is a new type of global beauty guru: a charming, down-to-earth and resolutely honest on-line tutor who uses her life as her creative palette. Her original youtube channel together with her newly expanded lifestyle brand and channel, It’sJudy’sLife has gathered over 200 million views.
Seeing and hearing fans wait in line around the block for up to an hour and a half ensured that Judy was blown away by the entire experience.
“It’s been amazing!” she smiled. “This is the largest meet up that we’ve ever done. There were 200 people in Dublin, which I thought was exciting. At first I thought an event this big might be a little overwhelming, but because CurliQue and Blanche Macdonald opened up its doors for us, it’s been well organised and I’ve been able to spend quality one-on-one time with my viewers. That was really great. Meeting everybody and putting faces behind the comments I receive is truly a blessing. It’s the viewers that keep me inspired.”
The occasion was the brainchild of Blanche Macdonald graduates Trina Duhra, Q Talent at CurliQue Beauty, and JoAnn Fowler of Sappho Cosmetics.
“When Judy announced that she was going to have a Vancouver meet and greet,” explained Trina, “I thought that there’s no better place than CurliQue and Blanche Macdonald. We’d met at the Vancouver IMATS and I’d introduced her to JoAnn Fowler. I told a couple of people here at CurliQue how great it would be for everyone to host Judy and immediately everyone at Blanche Macdonald was totally on board.”
It made perfect sense for Blanche Macdonald and CurliQue Beauty to host Judy’s Vancouver debut. As Canada’s #1 Makeup and Fashion School, Blanche Macdonald is permanently tapped into who is making waves in the Beauty Industry, with our Makeup Program including modules analysing the importance of self-marketing on social media and new media channels.
As Vancouver’s most stunning retail space, CurliQue, along with Trina and JoAnn, left a powerful impression on Judy.
“This is my first time at CurliQue,” she continued. “The first thing that came to my mind was, ‘Holy Cow! This is gorgeous!’ This space is beautiful. It’s clean. It’s open. It’s such an ideal spot. We’re really lucky to have this space for the meet and greet.
“My husband Benji is a major hippy. He’s an organic freak. When he found out that Sappho is 100% organic and vegan he was all for it. He told me I needed to try these cosmetics, and I’ve been wearing them ever since. I love it! Sappho foundation is not only really high quality with really great coverage. It has a pleasant scent to it. JoAnn is a really sweet person. You can tell she cares so much about her makeup. It’s an honour to be working with her.
“Since we met Trina and JoAnn at the IMATS on the Blanche Macdonald booth the three of us have been communicating. I’ve been watching Trina’s demonstrations on her YouTube channel Makeup by Trina. They are so useful. She’s a natural!”
